Ah, yes. December has finally graced us with its chilly weather, holiday cheer and of course the anticipation for CHRISTMAS! Possibly my most fave holiday of the year, December doesn't scream December without the Christmas parties!! Yesterday was party number 1 out of 6? 7? that I have lined up this year. Number 1 was for Michael's company party at the Fairmont (Pacific Rim). Beautiful hotel inside and out..and a GREAT residential building attached right next to it. I had the honour of having a listing here and omgosh, the finishings are JUST exquisite. His office isn't the biggest but it was a party for about 45 and the food was super yums. It was buffet style with the yummiest scalloped potatoes (that was present last year so I was super happy to see it again) and portobello mushroom ravioli I've ever had. Actually, Urban Fare carries fresh pastas in one of their showcases and their portobello mushroom ravioli's is also to die for! MM! I think I'm gonna have to buy some this week for dinner. Anyhow--back to the party. It was open bar and 20 year old me would have been ALL over that but I've come quite far since then. Alcohol rarely makes an appearance in my mouth nowadays all thanks to my 23rd birthday. But of course..I couldn't pass up a good glass of Moet. Perfect!
The party was fun but I was ready to pass out by around 10pm. Luckily we got a room overnight, all thanks to his boss who comps their employees stay. Not a lot of companies will do that so that was really nice of them to do so. The room we got was a corner suite with wrap around windows and we had a gorgeous view of the water by Canada Place. Another reason why I was so happy to stay here was because Fairmont PR is one of the possible locations we've been thinking about for our wedding. I've always wanted an outdoor wedding but it might not be the most ideal option considering we live in Vancouver and it'd probably cost a lot more to find an outside venue vs a ballroom.
I will say though...I wasn't exactly the happiest when we checked in. It's nothing major but I'm like the biggest bitch when it comes to POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. It's my biggest pet peeve and I truly believe you should NOT be in CS if you do not know how to deal with people and issues that may arise.
--Okay, so there are 2 reception desks at the Fairmont. Everyone was lining up at the desk on the right so we followed suit. Both desks were busy at the time so we waited behind the 1st group in the line. The desk on the left cleared but we were still waiting in line since the desk on the left never gestured for the next group. Then Michael noticed the desk of the left said RECEPTION and the desk we were waiting infront of said FAIRMONT GOLD. Michael asked me "is this line for only Fairmont Gold!?" I didn't know so I told him to ask her since the group infront of me was still waiting and not doing anything. Michael walked over and the girl said she could help him. I followed suit.
Then the desk on the right waved the group infront of me over then proceeded to say:
"Oh, that gentleman just CUT IN FRONT OF YOU. I'm so sorry about that!"
I heard this and couldn't believe what this girl said! As she finished saying that the group looked over (since it didn't even seem like they knew what was going on), as did she, and they saw me looking. I wasn't going to take that fucking crap from her so I said loudly:
"Actually, we thought that line was strictly for FAIRMONT GOLD so that's why we came over to ask if she could help us." (which we REALLY did!!)
Then the girl, looking surprised said:
"OMG, I'm sorry about the confusion Miss."
Anyways, Michael was taking a little bit with the check in process so I was still waiting behind him when the group on the right had already finished. I saw the girl walk out from behind her desk to hand them the keys and as they left she walked over to me and said:
"Again, I'm sorry about the confusion with the Fairmont Gold and Reception sign, miss," then patted me on my shoulder.
I just smiled and nodded. It's not even the confusion of the signs that pissed me off..it was the fact that the girl just assumed we were being rude and tactless. I'm not 10 years old, I'm a grown ass woman with manners. For someone to just strip me of my character infront of strangers I was ready to freaking blow. I know it's not a big deal but it bothered me big time.
BAH! Anyhow, enjoy the photos!!!!!

That's where I'm having my Christmas party this Saturday :) If you end up having your wedding there let me know lol, I can prob give you some details considering I did the organizing for this year's party!
